Often, we put exercise at the bottom of our to-do list. And given our current reality, it doesn’t seem that important. Don’t put exercise on the backburner yet. It’s exactly what we need right now – for a healthy mind, body and spirit.
More than a feeling
Being active has many benefits. Not only do you live a healthier life, but it also improves your mood and helps you sleep better. It may be hard to sustain in the beginning, but nothing beats the endorphins afterwards.
Take it easy
Start with 30 minutes of mild to moderate exercise, like skipping or your favourite online dance programme, a couple of times a week.
Running on empty
You need the correct fuel to be able to sustain physical activity. Eating healthy, balanced meals gives you the energy you need. You’ll also have the endurance to go further and boost your immune system while you’re at it.
Another one bites the dust
Being consistent with exercise and healthy habits yield the best results, especially during the tough times. Do those squats or opt for the salad even if you don’t feel like it. Discipline becomes important when you lack motivation. It’s all worth it in the long run.
Don’t stop believing
Your goals this year may have changed a bit but this is where you can be innovative. You may not be able to run your first marathon soon but you can try to be active 5 times a week or work towards a 3-minute plank. Having a goal keeps you motivated to know that you’re working towards something.
Shake it off
Smoking and excessive drinking can derail your success. It may be time to exchange the less favourable habits for better ones. Look on the bright side – you’ll live a longer, happier life and feel great – something your future self will thank you for.
