Feeling burnt out or stressed?
Every year we start strong, plan well, set goals and soar through the first quarter. However, by the second quarter, some of us may be feeling that mid-year slump, burnt out and ready for another holiday.
So, what are some of the things that we can do to beat the slump and stay on course?
To help keep you focussed and energised for the months ahead, we have some practical tips to help you improve your energy levels and boost productivity.
Get moving
Studies show that exercise boosts energy and the functionality of the lungs, heart and brain. Consistent exercise will help you maintain your energy throughout the day.
Hydrate
Our bodies are mainly comprised of water so dehydration can affect our metabolism, causing us to feel sluggish. To avoid this, you need to drink six to eight 250 ml glasses of water per day. If you exercise often, make sure you replenish with more water.
Make a conscious effort to eat better
The biggest battle for good health is fought in the kitchen. Make sure you are eating a variety of whole foods (foods that have been processed or refined as little as possible and are free from additives or other artificial substances) like fruits, vegetables, fish, eggs, unrefined carbs etc.
Enjoy the outdoors
Take a break and go for a stroll outside to refresh your mind and stimulate circulation. It will improve your mood and concentration and give you the jolt of energy you need to regain focus.
Sleep
Sleep allows your body and mind to recharge, leaving you rejuvenated and bright. Try to get to bed earlier and maintain a sleep schedule that has you sleeping and waking up at the same time every day.
