Blyderivierspoort hiking trail –Mpumalanga
Just over 4 hours and 30 minutes away from the Johannesburg city centre, the Blyderivierspoort hiking trail meanders its way through the world’s third largest canyon, and is arguably one of South Africa’s most breathtaking hiking trails with plenty photo of opportunities. Depending on your fitness level, you can choose between a 3 and 5 day, or go for a shorter 18km Hippo trail.

Ukhahlamba Amphitheatre hiking trail –KwaZulu Natal
The Ukhahlamba Amphitheatre hiking trail is a mere two hours’ drive from Durban. It’s famous for its awe-inspiring scenic views, and of course the mighty wall of basalt which is over 100 m from the Tugela Valley to the Lesotho plateau. The amphitheater is the most recognisable and dramatically imposing feature of the Drakensberg mountain range, and has been declared a world heritage site. This one is for the more experienced hikers.
