The Department of Transport revealed that 510 fatalities have been recorded over the 2018 Easter period (29 March – 9 April 2018) as a result of car accidents. This shows an increase of 14%, compared to last year’s 449. What this tells us is that there is a clear need for drivers to be more cautious on the roads. Here are 5 simple things you can do today to improve your safety when driving:
1. Plan your departure time in advance, and stick to it so that you do not have to drive under pressure to arrive on time for your appointments.
2. Ensure that children are always in child safety seats with their seat belts on, and that you and all other passengers have seat belts on when driving.
3. Keep your phone on hands-free mode when driving to avoid distractions.
4. Do not drink and drive.
5. Turn on your headlights in foggy conditions, at night, in rainy weather and in any other low visibility conditions to improve your visibility.
Not only will this improve your safety, but it can also help you earn Safe Dayz™ for a better status and partner rewards.
