Life is a balancing act. We find ourselves having to juggle work, the kids, the chores, our social connections, and our own wellbeing. And as if there already aren’t enough hours in a day to get everything done, we have the added stress of worrying about our health and that of our loved ones. Just breathe. There is a way to get your life back on track.

Realise that you cannot be everything to everyone

As much as you want to do it all, it’s simply not possible. There are only 24 hours in a day and you are only one person. Prioritise the important stuff and do what you can, but don’t beat yourself up about what you can’t do.

Find your purpose

When you are constantly in a state of chaos, you operate in survival mode and lose your sense of purpose or direction. It is time to take a step back, take a deep breath and determine what is important in your life and prioritise that.

Set time and switch on

Many of us are working from home and this often means that the lines are blurred when it comes to office hours. We are also constantly connected via our phones and other devices. It feels like we always need to be on. Be intentional with your time and switch off at the end of the day.

Don’t neglect your health

When you are constantly busy, you tend to forget about eating healthy or being active. You quickly grab a quick snack or forget to eat – you simply don’t have the time. You also sit in front of your computer for prolonged periods, which can be detrimental to your health. Schedule time each day to move and eat a nutritious meal, with intention.

Make time for relationships

No man is an island. It is important to nurture the genuine relationships that you have. Prioritise these and make time chat or just have a laugh with someone.

Schedule some fun

Make a concerted effort to schedule some fun activities. It doesn’t have to be something extravagant – it is the small moments that count. Go for a walk with the family, make a delicious meal or just talk and laugh and have some fun. Doing something that makes you happy, yields big emotional rewards.

Make time to be alone

We all need a moment to decompress – especially after a hard day. Find the 10 minutes to just be still, breathe and get your mind to quiet. Tomorrow is another day.
