Too familiar with the snooze button? There is nothing better than climbing deeper under the covers and getting that extra five (or ten) minutes of sleep before you have to wake up.

A change of season means that the sun gets up earlier and maybe you should too. And it is true what they say: “The early bird does catch the worm.” Here are some benefits of getting up early.

1. You start your day calm

The first obvious reason is that you’ll have more time to get ready for the day. Instead of spending 30 minutes in a rush, you can take your time, do a bit of reflection, and plan your day. It gives you time to wake up, smell the coffee, and even have time to drink it. Create a quiet morning routine.

2. There are fewer distractions

There is something to be said for the stillness found in early mornings just before everyone and everything wakes up. Use this quiet time to be productive and focus on important tasks.

3. You’ll have time to exercise

Let’s be honest, exercising in the morning takes commitment. But look at it this way – once you’re done, you’re done for the day. We have little control over our day and we’re often not in the mood to exercise after a long day of work.

Change requires commitment

Changing your routine is not easy and it takes time and consistency. Start small – wake up just 20 minutes earlier than usual in the first week. Also make sure that you get to bed earlier so that you get your required hours of sleep.
